Set within one of Italy’s most romantic coastal towns, Ellie and Anthony’s Positano elopement was intimate, glamorous and deeply personal.
•
Positano already held a special place in their story: it was here that Anthony proposed in July 2024. Exactly two years later, on 29 July 2026, they returned to marry — choosing an intimate wedding for just the two of them and creating a day centred entirely around their relationship, the place they had fallen in love with and the memories they had already made there.
•
From a ceremony beneath a grove of lemon trees and a violin playing against the Positano backdrop to revisiting their proposal location in a vintage Beetle, every element of the day felt connected to their story.
•
For her bridal look, Ellie chose Grace by Grace Loves Lace — remarkably, the first wedding dress she tried on. Elegant, beautifully understated and timeless, Grace became the foundation for a bridal look finished with the Pierlot floral veil, pearl earrings and a softly polished beauty look.
•
Here, our Marrime bride shares more about choosing to elope, finding Grace and creating an unforgettable wedding day on the Amalfi Coast.
Tell us about your decision to elope in Positano. What made you both feel that an intimate wedding in Italy was right for you?
“We knew from the moment we were engaged that eloping, just the two of us, was what we wanted to do. We wanted a day with no stress; something so intimate and special that we would remember forever."
“We decided to elope in Positano as this is where Anthony proposed to me in July 2024. We absolutely fell in love with Positano and the way it made us feel. It really is like stepping into a postcard, and the romance there is unmatched.”
We love how certain you both were about what you wanted from the beginning. There is something incredibly special about creating a wedding day entirely around the two of you, and choosing to elope gave you the freedom to slow everything down, be fully present and experience every part of the day together.
What was it about Positano that felt so special to you as a couple, and did you have a particular vision for how you wanted the day to feel?
“We got married on 29 July 2026, exactly two years to the date that Anthony proposed to me on 29 July 2024. We wanted to relive the proposal on our wedding day and revisit that moment."
•
“On our wedding day, we hired a vintage Beetle with a driver to revisit the exact spot where Anthony proposed, which is a famous photo spot in Positano on the Amalfi Coast. We were able to recreate the photographs and ultimately relive the moment, which was so special.”
•
Returning not only to Positano, but to the exact place where your story had taken such an important turn, is incredibly special. The vintage Beetle and recreated photographs made that connection between your engagement and wedding day feel even more personal.
You described your vision as intimate, romantic but glamorous. What did those three things mean to you when imagining your wedding day?
“Intimate, romantic and glamorous are the three words I use to describe our special day most."
“Intimate and romantic because this is exactly how we envisioned the day to be. Being just us, we were able to devote 100% of our time to each other on the day. Spending every single second together and being able to soak everything up meant the most to us."
“Glamorous because we got married in Positano, arguably the most glamorous town on the Amalfi Coast. Everything in Positano represents glamour — unparalleled beauty, from the landscape to the turquoise waters and stunning sunsets. There is beauty behind every corner. Ultimately, we knew the destination alone would make our wedding photographs feel incredibly special.”
Positano feels like the perfect setting for the wedding you had imagined. The landscape, the turquoise water and the beautiful light brought such an effortless sense of romance and glamour, while the intimacy of the day allowed the focus to remain entirely on the two of you and the experience you were sharing together.
Before finding your gown, what did you picture yourself wearing when you imagined walking towards Anthony on your wedding day?
“When I began the search for my wedding gown, I knew I wanted something very elegant and timeless."
•
“My wedding gown wasn’t something to just represent me on my wedding day; I envisioned how I would feel in years to come when looking back on our wedding. I wanted to know I would feel as special and confident then as I did choosing it and as I felt on the day."
•
“I believe trends come and go, and whilst I absolutely love some dresses I see, I knew I wanted something that would never date.”
•
We love this approach to choosing a wedding dress. Bridal fashion can absolutely feel current, but there is something particularly special about finding a gown that still feels completely like you when you imagine looking back at your photographs decades from now.
What was it about Grace that made you fall in love with her? Did you instantly feel like she suited the vision you had imagined for yourself?
“I will admit, I am very ‘Type A’. I am a girl who typically knows what she wants, researches and never goes out on a whim!"
•
“After a lot of researching wedding designers and browsing the Marrime website, the one dress I had picked that I definitely wanted to try was Grace by Grace Loves Lace. I fell in love as soon as I saw it online, so I could not wait to come and try it on myself."
•
“On the day I visited Marrime, the girls had the dress ready and waiting to try. This was the first wedding dress I had ever tried on and I couldn’t believe it was ‘the one’!”
•
Sometimes all of that research pays off. Grace has such an effortless simplicity to her, and against the glamour and natural beauty of Positano, we can completely understand why she felt so right for Ellie’s vision.
Can you remember the moment you knew Grace was the one? What was going through your mind when you realised you had found your dress?
“I still have the photographs and videos my sister took of me when I tried my dress on, and you can genuinely see the reaction I had — knowing how I felt and how much I loved it. I remember not wanting to take it off!"
“There actually weren’t any other dresses I wanted to try, but I gave a few of them a go anyway, as I had heard so many people say, ‘Don’t buy the first dress you see'."
“Before I left, I decided to try my dress on again to be sure I still felt the way I had the first time. At that moment, I just knew there wouldn’t be another dress that would match it."
“When I retried the dress, ‘Young and Beautiful’ by Lana Del Rey began playing — my wedding song. I knew I was going to walk out to Anthony with this played on violin on our special day, and if that wasn’t a sign that this was my dress, I don’t know what was.”
We’re not sure you could have asked for a clearer sign.
There is something so lovely about Grace being both the gown you had researched beforehand and the very first wedding dress you ever tried on. And then for your wedding song to begin playing when you put her back on? Some decisions really do seem to make themselves.
Tell us about the rest of your bridal look. How did you choose your veil, shoes, jewellery and accessories, and how did you want everything to come together?
“I think I only gave it a week or so before going back to Marrime to say yes to the dress. I was so excited!"
•
“This time, I tried it on with a different veil. I thought for my wedding day I wanted a lace-trim veil, and this was how I was going to add an ‘Italian touch’ to my wedding look."
•
“The veil I originally wanted to try was being tried by another lady, so I was given the Grace Loves Lace Pierlot veil to try — the veil which matches my dress."
•
“Wow. As soon as I put this on, I instantly fell in love with the look. It pulled my whole look together. The floral veil included just the right amount of detail that my wedding look needed without being too much."
•
“I was then able to match my earrings and shoes to my veil. I went for the Petite Rowen pearl floral earrings by Megan Therese Bridal — the perfect amount of detail and exactly what I was looking for.”
•
We love that the Pierlot veil wasn’t actually the veil you had arrived intending to wear. Sometimes those unexpected styling moments create the strongest look.
•
The floral detailing brought another dimension to Grace without compromising the simplicity you had fallen in love with, while the pearl floral earrings carried that detail through beautifully.
How did you feel when you finally wore Grace on your wedding day and saw yourself as a bride for the first time?
“On my wedding day, I remember being fully dressed and looking at myself — feeling very emotional — and truly feeling the most beautiful I had ever felt."
•
“I knew all of my choices were perfect for me, and the look that I had always envisioned for myself was finally real.”
•
That is exactly how a bridal look should feel. After imagining it, researching it and making every individual decision, there is something incredibly emotional about finally seeing the complete picture reflected back at you.
What was the inspiration behind your hair and makeup, and how did you want everything to complement your bridal look?
“With the temperature in the 30s at the height of the Italian summer, I wanted to feel more naturally beautiful and let my skin breathe through my makeup, so I went for a natural soft glam."
“For my hair, I envisioned something smooth, elegant and timeless, so I opted for an elegant French twist."
“I will say, I had opted for some of the best vendors the Amalfi Coast has to offer and they did NOT let me down!"
“Being on my own getting ready was probably the only worry I had — getting into my dress etc. My vendors were absolutely fantastic, especially my celebrant, Carmela, who we became so acquainted with. She helped us plan this for a year and a half, and our day wouldn’t have been as perfect as it was without her."
“So, a very special thank you to Carmela for not only being there on our wedding day, but from the moment that it was a dream in our minds.”
The softness of your beauty look worked beautifully with everything else you had chosen. Grace, the floral veil, the French twist and natural makeup all shared that same elegant, timeless quality and came together so effortlessly.
And when you’re planning a destination wedding from another country, having people around you who understand your vision is so important. It sounds as though Carmela became such a special part of the journey, from the earliest stages of planning right through to the wedding day itself.
As it was just the two of you, what did you love most about having such an intimate wedding day?
“Looking back at our special day, it truly could not have been any more perfect than it was from start to finish."
•
“The day represented mine and Anthony’s intimate love for one another, and to spend every single second of our wedding day together was exactly what we wanted.”
•
This is perhaps the most beautiful part of the way you chose to marry. Having the day entirely to yourselves gave you the space to be fully present with one another, take in every moment and experience the day exactly as you had imagined it. It feels incredibly personal to the two of you.
Looking back, what moment from your wedding day makes you smile the most? Was there a moment between the two of you that you will always remember?
“For as long as I live, I will never forget how I felt seeing Anthony standing under a grove of lemons, Positano as the backdrop, a violin serenading us and nothing but love, joy and happiness between us.”
•
What an image — and what a memory.
•
After everything you had planned, that one moment seems to capture the entire reason you chose Positano and an intimate wedding in the first place: just the two of you, surrounded by somewhere that already meant so much.
What were some of the little details that made the day feel personal and special to the two of you?
“We spent two weeks honeymooning on the Amalfi Coast, and these were hands down the best two weeks of our lives."
“We were surprised by my best friend, Hannah, with a video to watch on the morning of our wedding day, which was made up of video messages from our nearest and dearest sending us lots of luck, well wishes and love on our special day. Needless to say, we were both in tears."
“In the same week we came home from Italy, we had an intimate celebration with our nearest and dearest — Italian lemon theme, of course! It was so special to share stories from our wedding day and honeymoon with everyone we love.”
We love that you found a way to have both experiences: the complete intimacy of your wedding day in Positano and then the opportunity to celebrate everything with the people closest to you once you returned home.
And naturally, the lemons had to make another appearance.
How did you first discover Marrime, and what made you choose us to be part of such an important moment in your life?
“I knew I wanted to visit Marrime because, of all the wedding boutiques I had researched far and wide, I felt you matched my style and stocked the designers I specifically wanted to see."
•
“After a lot of researching wedding designers and browsing your website, Grace was the one dress I knew I definitely wanted to try.”
•
We love knowing that the Marrime edit felt aligned with your own style before you had even walked through the boutique doors. Our collection has always been carefully curated rather than simply extensive, so knowing you found the designer and gown you had been searching for here means so much to us.
What did you love most about your experience with Marrime, from finding Grace to getting ready to wear her on your wedding day?
“Grace was the first wedding dress I tried on and I couldn’t believe it was ‘the one’. I remember not wanting to take it off."
•
“When I came back to say yes to the dress, trying Grace again with the Pierlot veil made everything fall into place. As soon as I put the veil on, I instantly fell in love with the entire look.”
•
We love that your Marrime experience wasn’t about trying dozens of gowns until something eventually worked. You arrived knowing your style, found the gown that felt right almost immediately, and then returned to develop the complete bridal look.
•
From that first moment in Grace to discovering the Pierlot veil, every piece seemed to confirm what you already knew.
If you could give one piece of advice to another couple considering an intimate wedding or elopement, what would you tell them?
“I would say to anyone who envisions eloping, for whatever reason, do what ultimately makes you and your partner happy."
“At the end of the day, your wedding day is about YOU and you only get to do it once. You will look back in years to come on this special day, so make sure you lived it exactly how you dreamed you would."
“A traditional wedding does not ‘fit all’ in this modern day and age, and that’s okay. Do what makes you happy.”
We couldn’t think of a better note to end on.
A wedding should ultimately reflect the two people getting married, whether that means a room filled with hundreds of people or a ceremony beneath lemon trees in Positano with nobody else there at all.
A Final Note from Marrime
Ellie and Anthony’s Positano elopement feels like such a beautiful example of choosing a wedding day entirely on your own terms.
•
Returning exactly two years after their engagement to the place where Anthony had proposed gave every part of the celebration an added layer of meaning. From retracing that moment in a vintage Beetle to exchanging vows beneath lemon trees with Positano stretching out behind them, theirs was a wedding built around memories rather than convention.
•
Ellie’s bridal look followed that same instinct. Grace was the gown she had researched before she ever stepped inside Marrime and, remarkably, the first wedding dress she tried on. Its simplicity and elegance gave her exactly the timeless quality she had been searching for, while the floral Pierlot veil and delicate pearl details added just enough romance against the glamour of the Amalfi Coast.
•
There is something particularly special about a bride who knows what feels right for her and trusts that instinct. From finding Grace to choosing an intimate Italian elopement, every decision felt unmistakably Ellie and Anthony.
•
It was an absolute pleasure to be part of Ellie’s bridal journey and to see Grace become part of such a meaningful and unforgettable wedding day for her and Anthony.
