When we first welcomed the lovely Abbie into Marrime to talk through her ideas for her wedding day, it was clear she had a strong sense of what she, and her now husband Thomas, wanted their wedding to feel like. Their beautiful wedding took place on the 19th of July 2025, at Pratis Barns, Fife, which brought together their vision effortlessly.
🤍
With 64 loved ones for the daytime, Abbie and Thomas then had another 20 of their friends and family join them to continue the celebrations in the evening, allowing the atmosphere to be a perfect balance between intimate and lively. Pratis Barns added its own character too, being open, understated, and full of natural charm.
🤍
Through the lens of @themcyoungs, every part of Abbie and Thomas’ day felt authentic, considered, and refreshing. Here, Abbie talks us through how she found her dress at Marrime and the moments that shaped the flow of their undoubtedly perfect wedding day.
Which gown did you choose from Marrime and why?
“I wore the Grace loves lace Goldie dress I was always a GLL fan and there aren’t many Bridal shops in Scotland stock Grace Loves Lace, so I travelled to the beautiful Marrime to find my Goldie gown."
We absolutely loved that Abbie made the journey to us to find her Goldie gown. Grace Loves Lace has such a distinct, effortless aesthetic, and Goldie couldn’t have suited her more. It was so lovely that the try-on that instantly felt right and confirmed the dress was hers.
Was it love at first sight — or a moment that surprised you?
“It was love at first sight, Goldie was the first dress I tried on…
I tried on a few more but went back to Goldie as nothing felt the same!"
🤍
When you can picture yourself walking down the aisle toward your partner, clearly, confidently, without hesitation, that feeling says more than any comparison ever could. Goldie gave Abbie that instant connection, the kind that stays with you long after you’ve stepped out of the fitting room.
How did your dress influence the styling of your day?
“The Goldie dress has a distinct personality, flowy & bohemian but also modern and elegant. It inspired me to keep the day relaxed and romantic with an atmosphere that felt organic, instead of overly polished."
Goldie really does set the tone, and Abbie captured it perfectly. With its effortless movement and that blend of bohemian ease and modern elegance, it’s a gown that naturally shapes the mood of a wedding day. Her decision to keep everything relaxed, romantic, and organically beautiful felt like an extension of the dress itself.
Did you make any bespoke edits or customisations to your gown or veil?
“I added removable tulle sleeves throughout the day."
🤍
A beautiful touch to make your gown truly your own! And so nice to be able to change up your look throughout the day.
Describe how you felt wearing your gown.
“My dress gave me a sense of confidence, it was so comfortable and easy to dance in. The silk felt amazing. I felt like the most authentic version of myself but better!"
🤍
That’s exactly what we love to hear, a dress should elevate you without ever feeling like a costume. Goldie's comfort and fluid fabric are a huge part of that, giving you the freedom to move, dance, and actually enjoy every moment of the day. The confidence it gave you, while still feeling completely like yourself, is everything we hope for when a bride finds her gown.
Tell us about your veil, shoes, and accessories — were there any meaningful pieces?
“I also wore the Grace Loves Lace Pierlot veil, my shoes were Jimmy choo & my earrings were from Dior. My partner kindly surprised me on the wedding day with matching bracelet & necklace."
Abbie’s choice of accessories perfectly complemented the effortless elegance of Goldie. The Pierlot veil by Grace Loves Lace added a delicate, romantic touch, while her Jimmy Choo shoes and Dior earrings brought total glamour. And the surprise matching bracelet and necklace from Thomas was such a thoughtful, personal detail!
What was the vision for your bridal look?
“Effortless but elevated, I didn’t want to look back at my pictures and not look like myself."
🤍
Absolutely, that balance is so important. A gown should feel like it is enhancing your natural style without ever masking who you are. Goldie gave Abbie exactly that, a look that felt authentic in every photograph, capturing her personality while still feeling undeniably special for the day! Photos she can look back on in ten years time and still feel a true connection to her gown!
Three words that capture the mood or style of your day
"Romantic, colorful and relaxed."
🤍
Did you change for the evening? If so, tell us about your second look.
“No, I kept my dress on all day. I did take the sleeves off at night for a slightly different look."
A testament to how comfortable and effortless the dress is. Changing the sleeves for the evening was such a smart, subtle way to give the look a fresh twist without losing the elegance that carried her through the whole day.
Who created your hair and makeup look, and what was your brief to them?
“I am a hairdresser so I did most of my hair myself, again I wanted to look like myself and I prefer to have my hair off my face so I still kept it this way on the wedding day. For my makeup I went for a glowy soft glam".
🤍
By keeping her hair off her face created a look that felt natural and authentically her, while her glowy, soft glam makeup added just the right touch, radiant and elegant, but never overdone.
Who was your florist, and what did they create for you?
“My florist was @theflowerstudioscotland and she surpassed my expectations. I didn’t want any greenery in the bouquets just the contrasting pinks and reds themselves and they made such a statement. They looked gorgeous next to the dresses, on the button holes and on the tables. We had multiple single bud vases on each table
with roses and they looked so perfect they almost looked fake!"
🤍
Describe your palette — were there any colours, textures or florals that anchored your design vision?
“We went for different shades of pink, fuchsia, baby pink and also red. I love the contrast of pink and red together and I find it so romantic, like Valentine’s Day. We had the bridesmaids in different flowy dresses and they all got to pick their dress themselves."
Mixing shades of pink, fuchsia, baby pink, and red created a vibrant, joyful palette that felt full of personality!
Any standout styling or décor moments you adored?
“We adored the Romantic feel that you get from candles, they always set a lovely mood. We also made our own seating chart which was “blinded by love” and each person had a pair of pink or red quirky sunglasses with their table number on. This went down a treat with the guests."
🤍
Abbie and Thomas’s attention to detail made their day feel personal and playful. The candlelit setting created a soft, romantic atmosphere, while their DIY seating chart and sunglasses added a touch of fun.
What advice would you give other brides planning now?
“I would say don’t stress the little things, don’t let anything get you down and also don’t forget that when your day arrives it really is magic, so try to embrace every second."
Advice that is so beautifully simple, and so true. Weddings can feel overwhelming in the planning, but letting go of the small stresses and focusing on the day itself makes all the difference. When it arrives, it really is magical, and embracing every moment is the best way.
Would you do anything differently?
“We have both said we wouldn’t change a thing… not even the weather! The rain wrapped our day in a sense of intimacy, as if the world slowed down just for us."
🤍
A beautiful reminder that not everything, including the weather, has to be what you perfectly imagined!
What made you choose Marrime?
“Marrime stocked all of the designers I liked under one roof, the whole experience was perfect, professional, magical and truly bespoke. I couldn't have wished for more!"
We’re so delighted that Abbie’s experience at Marrime felt truly special. With all her favourite designers under one roof, she was able to explore a variety of styles and find the gown that spoke to her perfectly.
