Made-to-order means that there is no stock of your gown and the making of the gown begins once you place your order. The most important thing to note is that made-to-order gowns are ordered to the closest numerical dress size or S/M/L/XL sizing (dependent on designer), based on measurements taken at Marrime. The gown is not made to exact measurements (which is referred to as “made-to-measure”). In order to achieve the perfect fit, the bride must seek the assistance of a seamstress or tailor.
No, we do not currently offer custom gown consultations. Depending on the style and designer, slight alterations can be made i.e.: short sleeves vs. long sleeves, different neckline, etc., but most of our gowns are ordered true to the intention and design of the gown.
Please note that sample sale gowns are gently worn ex-display and may need repairs in addition to the usual alterations required which are at the cost of the buyer. A garment dry cleaning is recommended to bring back the dress to new condition. The sooner after purchase the cleaning is completed the more successful the outcome.
As much as we love the idea of a party in our store, we believe that your bridal appointment should be as intimate as possible. We want the focus to stay on you and the style and feeling YOU want to exude on your wedding day. We’ve found that sometimes too many opinions end up overwhelming the bride’s decision, and we don’t wish stressful shopping upon any of our brides. We can comfortably accommodate 3 guests in our store as we know it is important for our brides to have their special people at the appointment. To offer the very best customer experience we welcome small bridal parties of up to 3 guests.
Aside from your shining self, we invite you to bring any undergarments (preferably nude!) or shoes that you’re considering wearing on your wedding day, if applicable.
Your initial appointment will include a tailored, one hour and fifteen minutes dress up session with our stylists, where you will try on our gown samples along with a selection of refreshments. If a made-to-order gown purchase is made, we’ll take your measurements and order the closest dress size to be made. Once the gown arrives, you’ll come back in for a collection appointment to pick up your gown and do final inspections. Our MB team will be happy to provide you with details of our highly experienced recommended seamstresses.
Depending on the designer you move forward with, there is up to a 9-month lead time for all made-to-order gowns. We have some very select styles that can be made in less time, so if you’re limited for time, email our MB team for more info.
Rush orders are available upon request, but keep in mind that fees will apply.
We ask that the customer collects their gown within 8 weeks of being notified of its readiness. Please note that whilst we will take every care to protect your gown during storage, Marrime is not liable for losses or damages and gowns are stored with us at your own choice and risk.
