We had a conversation with Kyha Scott, founder and creative director of Kyha Studios, to discuss design, innovation, and her inspiration.

Tell our Marrime brides where it all started for Chosen by KYHA and your design career. Did you always know you wanted to be a designer?

Believe it or not, before founding KYHA Studios, I was a police officer! But fashion has always been in my blood. My mum had a tennis and athleisure label while I was growing up, so creativity and design were part of my world from an early age.

During my own wedding journey, I saw a gap in the market for modern, fashion-forward bridalwear. I wanted to create pieces that made women feel like the best version of themselves rather than conforming to outdated bridal norms. In 2011, I started designing bespoke gowns, and from that initial vision, KYHA Studios has grown into what it is today.

KYHA Innovation & Inspiration

Who inspires you in the bridal industry?

My inspiration comes more from fashion than bridalwear itself. I admire designers like Alexander McQueen for their craftsmanship and attention to detail. Beyond fashion, nature is a constant source of creativity. Snow-capped mountains, the ocean, and  European landscapes all influence my collections. Ultimately, I’m inspired by those who stay authentic to their vision and push boundaries.

Where or what sparks inspiration for a new gown or collection?

Inspiration comes from everywhere. Sometimes, it’s a unique fabric or intricate beading that sets an idea in motion. Other times, it’s a texture, an architectural form, or a mood I want to explore. For our latest collection, Le Coucou, I drew inspiration from Alpine landscapes, the way snow and ice form, shift, and reflect light. You can see that influence in the textures, silhouettes, and movement of the gowns.

Describe a typical day in the Chosen by KYHA studio.

No two days are ever the same. Depending on the season, my time is spent in design meetings, sourcing fabrics, fitting collections on models, and collaborating with the team on campaign visions. One thing that never changes is the energy and expertise of our predominantly female team. They inspire me every day.

When it comes to fabrics, materials, and embellishments, what are you looking for? How do you want your gowns to make brides feel?

Our mission is to empower women, and that’s exactly how I want our brides to feel in a  KYHA gown. Confident, empowered, and unapologetically themselves. Every design choice, from fabric selection to embellishment placement, is made with that in mind.

Describe your personal style.

Effortless and relaxed, with a strong emphasis on tailoring.

Why is Marrime Bridal the perfect space for Chosen by KYHA?

How has the response been to your latest KYHA collection, Le Coucou?

The response has been incredible globally. Brides and the fashion industry have embraced its bold, modern aesthetic and celebration of proportion and texture. The collection’s inspiration, snow-capped mountains and winter landscapes, has brought a fresh, unexpected perspective to bridalwear, and it’s been exciting to see it resonate so strongly.

The piece of tech you couldn’t live without is…

My phone. It keeps everything running.

What’s new on the horizon for Chosen by KYHA? Any secrets you can share?

We’re always evolving, and this year, we’re excited to introduce pieces that go beyond bridal, designed for all women, not just brides. Stay tuned. There’s a lot more to come on the runway.

The best part of your job is…

Creating gowns that become part of one of the most magical moments in a person’s life. Knowing we play a role in those cherished memories is incredibly special.

What advice would you give to a 2025 bride shopping for her wedding dress?

Stay true to yourself. Your gown should reflect your personal style and make you feel like the most confident version of yourself. While it’s natural to seek input from friends and family, their opinions should never outweigh how you feel in the dress. Choose the gown that makes you feel beautiful, empowered, and completely you, because at the end of the day, it’s your moment.
